BEFORE COMMENTS:
This unplugged version was the original concept for the song and one of the first of 4 songs Debra and I initially started working on. We were also experimenting and searching for a sound for Debra. As things evolved with the EP, we felt we wanted to update the production and give the song & video a more contemporary country pop cross over tone.
Both versions are the same tempo and the vocals, steel and dobro are the exact same performances on both versions but the full version feels slower, more yearning / emotional and has more of that “love lost” feel to it. We needed to maintain the original tempo so we could still utilize the original video.
AFTER COMMENTS:
The wonderful keyboards and string arrangements were done by Paul W. Rucker, www.musicscapes.net. This gave me the foundation to build the rest of the new production. After finished, it was so incredible to watch the same video with two different pieces of music.
Very special thanks to Shari Belafonte and Sam Behrens for all their hard work to produce, shoot and edit the video to this very heart wrenching story.

When Debra first gave me her collection of 17 demo’s, this song stood out as being, without a doubt, one of my favorites! It easily adapted over to the new sound of her CD, with the amazing performances of some of Nashville’s finest players such as:
Mike Johnson (steel) – Recorded for Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson…too many to mention!!
Randy Kohrs (banjo) – He has played on more than 500 albums, ranging from those by such legends as Hank Thompson and Jerry Reed to current chart-toppers Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, Sara Evans and The Wreckers.
Steve Stokes (fiddle & background vocals) – Toured and recorded with artists such as John Michael Montgomery & Josh Turner
James Mitchell (electric guitar) – James’s playing reminds me of Danny Gatton and like Danny, he is a very understated, incredibly talented artist in his own right. James has recorded for some of the best here in Nashville such as Randy Houser & Colt Ford. Here’s a video that I have to send you to. Does this guy ROCK or what?
